Because we are crazy passionate people who once believed they could change the way we travel. We were united by the love for nature and human beings; curiosity, restlessness and the desire for knowledge. Without forgetting that we were all bewitched by Africa and here we are… hooked.
Our agency is pure inspiration. A space that combines creativity, passion and love for the well done, from the respect, balance and collaboration between people and their environment.
We show the different realities, the good and the less good in order to understand positions that sometimes are beyond our comprehension.
We create bonds between the members of our expeditions based on shared experiences and establish communication bridges between locals and travelers with extreme ease.

Discover the world on foot, back to the ORIGIN. Sustainable adventure is our main axis, our raison d’être, our travel philosophy. An organic, simple journey, where you have the time to observe and take the pulse of our planet, to provoke encounters, otherwise unthinkable.
We love the silence and the feeling of freedom that the open spaces, the peaks and even the dense forests of Madagascar give us.
1997-2006 The Beginning of Everything
In 1997 we embarked on an adventure of which we were unaware of its consequences. Publishing a travel magazine was a dream for a photographer like Sylvia and a travel writer like Sergi. And we fulfilled it because if there is one thing that characterizes us, it is our commitment.
Mozambique, Syria, Senegal, Kenya, Morocco, Uzbekistan, Chile, Argentina, Uganda, Ethiopia, Turkey, Cape Verde, Jordan…and countless other countries in which we had the privilege of working.
As it could not be otherwise, the magazine was called Nomads. Until we were absorbed by a publishing house and ceased to exist shortly thereafter.
Our entrepreneurial spirit did not end here. Our first “coup de coeur” was Algeria and we spent four intense and wonderful years guiding expeditions and camel treks in the Sahara desert.
From those years we take with us the indigo blue color of the Tuareg turbans that together with the “Be” (much or big in Malagasy) made up the “Big Blue”, the great Indian Ocean.
In psychology indigo blue is the most powerful shade and is associated with creativity and imagination.
There are several who followed us in this adventure as Jaume or Josep Maria; Joan Biosca with whom we shared great moments and whom we always have in mind; Maria who is still at the bottom of the cannon as head of communication; Rafael teaching Spanish classes in our training courses. And we hope to enlarge our family because what really matters are the people.
Indigo Be was actually born in the Algerian Sahara.
2006-2024 Origins of our adventure
We were always dreamers. Later we decided to put our dreams into practice. That’s how INDIGO BE was born, but that’s a well-known story.
Life sometimes holds surprises. Travel times always surprise us in the middle of the adventure. Since our beginnings. We arrived and we saw, we fell in love each in our own way, we evolved on an island that continues to surprise us every day.
We move through life, following the natural order of things apprehended with simplicity, without any effort.
This is how INDIGO BE has been growing, and this is how we have been growing too. In our origins it was an adventure, lately our experience can be easily equated to a journey through the dreams of so many travelers who have been guided by our hand during these years on the island of Madagascar.
The road we have traveled has not been easy, but it has had countless rewards, this season has been especially rewarding, in every way, and that makes us feel proud of a job well done, of the pleasure of things done with love. We continue to love our work, we continue to be thrilled when we make travelers discover impossible landscapes, we continue to smile silently when we observe the expressions of some customers when they say goodbye at the airport, we continue to be satisfied that our partner travel agents often congratulate us for the services we offer, for the quality of our services, for our organization dedicated to satisfying their travelers.
The road we have traveled has been an adventure. We have enjoyed it together and now we are growing even more with simplicity, expanding our destinations, also offering our services with combined programs in Mauritius, Reunion and Seychelles.
The philosophy is the same, the means are bigger and bigger…. We are bigger but we are still the same, the road we have traveled has made us better: older, wiser, equally enthusiastic.
Betting as from the first day for sustainable human development, for adventure ecotourism and for the preservation of the environment and above all, for the respect of local populations. Without them, Madagascar would not be the same and our work would be different.

Indigo Be has supported responsible tourism since its inception in 2006, following a series of guidelines in the organization of its trips that respect equitable and long-term principles:
Training of young Malagasy people in foreign languages and in the profession of tourist guides, always focusing on youth.
Raising environmental awareness among all Indigo Be’s direct and indirect personnel.
Detailed information to travelers on the respect that must be kept at the environmental level on the island.
Respect for local culture and idiosyncrasies.
Support to local communities involved in the development of ecotourism and sustainable travel projects, as well as fair trade.
Involvement of our travelers in the local life of certain local communities and ethnic groups isolated from urban centers, thanks to the contribution of materials that are difficult to obtain in those areas of the island.
Collaboration with entities such as the Akamasoa Association founded by Father Pedro, which since 1997 has helped more than 25,000 people to improve their lives through education, health, incorporation into the labor market, etc…

These are our “signature trips”, emblematic routes that stole our hearts and that we wish to share year after year with travelers like you, who wish to visit remote or difficult to access areas that involve a degree of “adventure”, in some cases renouncing comfort.
These trips are designed for a type of traveler who wishes to explore unique natural spaces and get to know an ancestral culture such as the Malagasy, completely different from our own. ESCAPADES
If you have little time, we recommend you to reduce your expectations :). Keep in mind that Madagascar is the fourth largest island in the world and the trips are extremely long. The Lemurs & Whales or Lemurs & Baobabs combinations are ideal to get you started in a destination as immense as it is spectacular.
However, Mauritius, Rodrigues, Reunion or Seychelles are appropriate destinations for a short getaway due to their small size.
HONEY MOONS
If you want an exceptional trip, but you categorically renounce to lie under a coconut tree (at least every day 🙂 ), opting for Madagascar is an excellent way to find the balance and fulfill the dreams of each of you since you can combine activities, such as visiting its national parks in search of lemurs, with paradisiacal beaches.
In any of the Indian Ocean islands you can lie in a hammock, enjoy the pleasure of “dolce far niente”, get a tan in the sun to recharge your batteries or enjoy incredible hotels in unforgettable places where you can write a new chapter of your love story.

BEACH STAYS
Traveling to Madagascar to rest is not what we will advise you from Indigo Be, but it is ideal to combine any route with a few days of rest or activities in one of the countless paradisiacal beaches that surround the island.
Humpback whale watching in Sainte Marie, scuba diving in Nosy Tanikely, sailing in vezo canoes in Anakao or resting in the paradisiacal Nosy Tsarabanjina; trekking in the Masoala peninsula or in Reunion Island, are experiences that we can help you design. There are thousands of kilometers of coastline for all options. The Seychelles, Mauritius and Rodrigues are an ideal end to any trip to Madagascar or Reunion.

TREKKING
To go further you have to go on foot. And on many occasions, seeing the world from the heights makes all the difference. Climbing mountains in the Andringitra or Marojejy ranges, living with animist tribes in the Zafimaniry Country, exploring the lush jungle of Masoala or penetrating the canyons of the unknown Makay Massif, are experiences that can only be experienced on foot.
Not forgetting Reunion Island, the most “trekking” destination in the Indian Ocean: climbing the Piton de Neiges, exploring the Mafate cirque or exploring the Piton de la Fournaise volcano.
ETHNIC
Now more than ever, the human factor determines our journey. A melting pot of ethnicities and cultures, the island of Madagascar allows us to meet more than 18 different ethnicities with different racial origins. Peoples of Indo-Malayan origin, Bantu ethnic groups from Africa, Swahili navigators…

WILDLIFE
Madagascar is one of the 17 megadiverse countries on the planet. Over the last decade, scientists have discovered 615 new species. The island is home to 5% of the world’s fauna and flora species. A rate of more than 80% of endemisms (6 species of baobabs, 113 species of lemurs, 1200 species of orchids…) which, together with the diversity of existing habitats: tropical rainforest, mountains, savannah, wetlands, dry forest… make Madagascar an exceptional destination for wildlife lovers.
Obviously all our routes include visits to national parks, but we have some proposals focused 100% on exploring our nature and biodiversity.

The Indian Ocean has some of the best beaches on the planet. Madagascar with the Mitsio or Radames archipelagos formed by paradisiacal islands such as Nosy Iranja, Nosy Be, Nosy Sakatia, Nosy Tanikely, Nosy Mitsio, Nosy Komba… that we will sail in catamaran or traditional schooner; deserted beaches such as Salary, Ambatomilo, Andavadoaka, Anakao, Ambola… islands of pirates and corsairs such as Sainte Marie or Masoala, whale and dolphin shelters…
Mauritius, Rodrigues, Seychelles and Reunion… turquoise waters and snow-white sands that seem to come out of a dream.
ACTIVE TRAVEL
All trips to Madagascar are active because the nature safaris are always on foot unlike the rest of the continent. But in our Active Travel trips sport is in the foreground. Cycling, scuba diving, kite surfing, surfing, canyoning, paragliding… Combining the visit of some areas with our favorite sport is the key element of this type of active travel.
They do not include trekking trips because we consider that walking trips deserve a section of their own.
